January 6, 2025 – Renowned researcher in neuroscience, art, and psychology, Dr. Koncha Pinos, has been accepted as a member of the prestigious Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, & the Arts, a division of the American Psychological Association (Division 10).
Dr. Pinos, founder of The Wellbeing Planet, is known for her interdisciplinary approach that combines art, neuroscience, psychology, and contemplation. Her work explores how artistic experiences impact the human brain, fostering well-being, creativity, and new ways of understanding life’s purpose.
One of her recent studies focuses on the serigraphs at the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC) in Barcelona, where she delves into an unpublished triptych by Pablo Picasso. This research explores how the work reflects Picasso’s emotional memories of the city and how these pieces activate deep emotional processes in the viewer, from a neuroscientific perspective.
Dr. Pinos is also leading a project on Marc Chagall and the Universe of Dreams, examining his art from a Jungian perspective. Her research highlights how Chagall’s dreamlike imagery activates trauma resolution processes and how dreams become a tool for healing. This work underscores the therapeutic value of art in emotional integration and psychological repair.
In the field of architecture, Dr. Pinos continues her research on Antoni Gaudí, focusing on Casa Batlló in Barcelona. In this project, she analyzes how Gaudí’s natural forms and structures in this iconic work impact the human brain, promoting a sense of well-being and connection to nature through architectural design.
Finally, Dr. Pinos is collaborating with contemporary artist Duván López on a project about biophilia and art, investigating the impact of forests and jungles on the human brain. This work explores how interaction with nature and art can foster creativity and improve mental health in urban societies.
Dr. Pinos and The Wellbeing Planet will be present at the upcoming International Conference of the Society, to be held March 13-15, 2025, in New Haven, Connecticut, where they will present these and other advances at the intersection of art, neuroscience, and psychology.
